Gallerie d'Italia

If Art Had a Nose

Gallerie d'Italia is the arts museums of the Intesa Sanpaolo banking group. Historical buildings in the heart of Milan, Naples and Vicenza host one of the largest collections of painting and sculpture of the Italian peninsula. From Caravaggio to Tiepolo, from Canaletto to Boccioni, passing through Mirò, Picasso, Kandinsky, Warhol and Fontana, in 2019 half a million visitors experienced the over 30,000 works dated between the fifth and twentieth centuries. Scented rooms or exhibitions. Events, talks and seminars on the history of perfumery and its evolution over the centuries. "Olfactory walks": guided tours combining the artistical description of an artwork with an evocative experience of its customized fragrance. Educational programs dedicated to all ages. The galleries are active with schools and offer a busy calendar of activities for groups with disabilities. Thanks to fragrances specially created to reproduce the works from an olfactory perspective, we accompany children and the elderly in the use of art, sometimes made possible only thanks to the sense of smell. These are just some of the activities that we carry out each year with the Gallerie d’Italia. An intense collaboration made up of projects dedicated to both temporary exhibitions and permanent collections. Our mission? Adding the sense of smell to the art experience, making it more engaging, emotional and memorable.
